Numbers, not adjectives

Three heats, three speeds, one shape.

Most wraps say “adjustable heat” and stop there. Here are the actual temperatures.

Heat
3 levels

Plus off. Start on the first one — it runs warmer than it sounds against a joint with no fat on it.

Vibration
3 levels

Plus off, and independent of the heat — run either on its own. A flat vibration, not kneading.

Fit
Either foot

No left, no right. Fits an ankle up to 9 cm across.

On the joint
227

Grams. Light enough to forget it’s on.

You can see it

The temperature in °C while it runs, above three keys. Each one steps up a level, then back to off.

Shell
Stretch fabric

34 × 17.5 cm flat, 14 × 9 cm on. Four-way stretch, every edge bound and topstitched, closes anywhere along the tongue. Cordless, USB-rechargeable.

Where the warmth sits

A figure of eight, because an ankle isn’t a cylinder.

A straight band slides off the moment you stand on it. This one crosses under the arch and back over the joint, so the warm panel stays on the bones that are stiff in the morning.

Shin Toes Heel
8

It crosses, so it stays

The tongue runs under the arch and fastens back over the joint — so it doesn’t work its way down to your heel ten minutes in.

1

One shape, either side

Nothing about the cut is handed. Left ankle tonight, right one tomorrow — same wrap.

Three keys

Nothing to learn, nothing to pair.

No app, no Bluetooth, no account. Wave for vibration, flame for heat, power in the middle — and the number on the display is the temperature, not a mode to decode.

The control pod: a two-digit temperature readout above three touch keys — vibration, power and heat — with indicator dots showing the current level

Vibration

Three levels. With the heat, or on its own.

Power

One key on, one key off. Dots show the level.

Heat

48, 53 or 58 °C — and it tells you which.

Your first session

Four steps, then ten minutes of nothing.

Step 01

Wrap it on

Foot flat, panel over the outside of the ankle, tongue under the arch and back over the top. Snug, not tight.

Step 02

Start on the first level

Press the flame once. 48 °C reads modest on paper and doesn’t feel it on an ankle — give it two minutes before you decide.

Step 03

Add vibration, or don’t

The wave key, three levels. Plenty of people run the heat alone.

Step 04

Then move it

This is the step people skip. Take it off, draw slow circles with your foot, then stand and shift your weight. The warmth makes that bearable — the movement is what changes anything.

A stiff ankle rarely sorts itself out

Movement
What the reviews favour over rest. Melt’s job is to make moving bearable enough to repeat

Figures are findings of published reviews of ankle sprain and its treatment — not results of this device. Evidence for surface heat is short-term and strongest for comfort and range of movement; for local vibration it is weaker still. Individual results vary. Holtrow Melt is a wellness device — not a medical treatment, and not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

What heat can do, and what it can’t.

You’ll feel the warmth inside five minutes — that part is real. What heat won’t do is repair an ankle. It buys you a joint that’s willing to move, and the moving is what changes things over weeks. That’s why the guarantee runs thirty days, not seven.

First sessionWarmth in about five minutes. The vibration feels odd for one, then it doesn’t.
Week 1The end of a standing day is where people notice it first.
Weeks 2–4Mornings. The first steps out of bed are the honest measure.
The honest bitIf a month of it hasn’t changed anything, it isn’t going to. Send it back.

Everything the $129 pad does, cut for an ankle.

The premium option is a generic pad you stick anywhere — then re-buy the sticky part. Same three heats and three speeds, shaped for one joint, with nothing to replace.

Questions

The things people ask before buying

Will it fit my ankle?

One size, closing anywhere along a full-width hook-and-loop tongue rather than at fixed notches — so it handles a wide range in the middle easily. It fits an ankle up to about 9 cm across at the joint. We haven’t printed a circumference range because we haven’t been given one we’d stand behind. If it doesn’t fit comfortably, that’s what the thirty days are for.

How hot is 58 °C, really?

Hotter than you’re picturing. An ankle has almost no fat over the bone to soften it. Start on the first level — and if that’s sharp against bare skin, wear it over a thin sock, which is what most people settle on anyway.

How long does the battery last?

We don’t know yet, so we’re not going to guess. The spec sheet says “1 hour” without saying whether that’s runtime or charge time, and we’ve asked for it in writing. When we have it, this answer gets a real number. What we can say: it’s cordless and it charges over USB.

Can I sleep in it?

No. There’s a timer on the wrap, but we haven’t confirmed an automatic cut-off, and it gets genuinely hot. Use it awake, take it off afterwards.

Left ankle or right?

Either — the cut isn’t handed. Just not both at once: that’s what the two-wrap option is for.

Can I wear it in a shoe, or walk around in it?

Not in a shoe — at 14 × 9 cm worn it sits under a loose trouser leg but won’t go into anything laced. You can stand and take a few steps and it stays put, but it’s a sitting-down device by design.

Does it work over a sock?

Yes. The warmth takes longer to arrive and is gentler when it does — for a lot of people that’s the better setting, not the compromise. The vibration is unaffected.

Can I wash it?

No — there’s electronics and a battery sewn into the sleeve, so keep it out of water and machines. Wipe the fabric down and let it dry. We’ve asked whether the pod detaches for a hand-wash and we’ll update this either way.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t use it?

Don’t use it over broken skin or a rash, and don’t use it anywhere sensation is reduced — if you can’t reliably feel heat, you can’t tell it’s too hot. If you have diabetes or neuropathy affecting the feeling in your feet, poor circulation, are being treated for a blood clot, are pregnant, or have had recent surgery on the foot or ankle, ask your doctor first. And a fresh injury — an ankle that’s swollen, badly bruised, or won’t take your weight — needs seeing about, not warming up.

Warm it, wake it, then walk.

Three temperatures you can read, three vibration levels, and thirty days to decide.
