Built to be worn, not admired

Everything that matters, published.

Most devices in this category won’t tell you their emitter count. Here is all of ours.

Emitter array
132

44 beads, three chips each — red and near-infrared together, spread across the whole joint, not clustered in a patch.

One session
20 min

Wrap it on and carry on with your evening. It stops itself at 30 whether you remember it or not.

Battery
5000

mAh, USB-C. Four to five sessions between charges — no cable across the floor.

Settings
11

Light, heat and massage — set each where you like it, mix them freely.

Coverage
65 cm

Of wrap, three straps through metal D-rings. It stays where you put it.

Shell
Neoprene

Bound edges, metal hardware, and a wipe-clean window over the array.

Where it fits

Cordless means you don’t have to stop your evening.

It goes where you already sit.

Worn under a desk while working

At the desk

Through a long afternoon.

Worn while reading on a sofa

On the sofa

The twenty minutes before bed.

Worn over leggings on the way out of the gym

After training

Straight over your leggings.

Adjusting the strap before a session

Quick to fit

Two minutes, then forget it.

Two wavelengths

Red light stops at the skin. Near-infrared doesn’t.

The glow you can see works at the surface. The light you can’t see reaches the joint. Thaw runs both at once.

Skin Dermis Fat & fascia Joint capsule
660

Visible red

The warm glow you can see, working at the surface — it’s why the wrap lights up through the fabric.

850

Near-infrared

Invisible, and doing most of the work — it passes through the surface and reaches the joint underneath.

One pod

Nothing to learn.

One glass pod on the wrap. Tap a key, watch the display. The side key powers and locks it.

The touch pod: massage, light and heat keys above a digital display

Light

Five levels, right on the display.

Heat

45, 50 or 55 °C — with the light or without it.

Massage

Three levels. Honestly optional.

Your first session

Four steps, then twenty minutes of nothing.

Step 01

Wrap it on

Centre the panel on your kneecap and pull the three straps snug.

Step 02

Start the light

Tap the sun key. Start at level one — there’s no prize for going straight to five.

Step 03

Add heat or massage

Each has its own key. Start the heat low — the light is the part doing the work.

Step 04

Forget about it

Read, watch something. It switches itself off.

What the research on red and near-infrared light for knees actually shows

From published meta-analyses of randomised, placebo-controlled trials
−32 pts
Peak pain-score drop versus placebo, measured after a completed course
785–860 nm
The band reviews rank highest for knees — Thaw runs inside it
4–8 J
The per-point dose those reviews call effective

From meta-analyses of light therapy for knee osteoarthritis (BMJ Open 2019; wavelength network meta-analysis 2024). Pain outcomes are stronger than stiffness outcomes — we’d rather say so. Individual results vary. Thaw is a wellness device, not a medical treatment.

This one asks something of you.

Light therapy is not a painkiller — anyone selling a first-night miracle is selling you a return label. The effect builds with repetition and peaks weeks after you’ve put the work in. That’s why the guarantee runs thirty days, not seven.

Week 1You’ll feel warmth and the vibration. That’s it — and that’s expected.
Weeks 2–3The habit sets. Most people report mornings feeling less seized-up first.
Weeks 4–6Where the trials measure their strongest effects.
AfterBenefit continues building for 2–4 weeks past a completed course.
Where it sits

Priced like the cheap ones. Specified like the expensive ones.

Questions

The things people ask before buying

Does it get hot?

Yes — properly. A real heating element with three temperatures on its own key, with the light or without it. Start at 45 °C; 55 is genuinely warm on bare skin.

How long until I notice anything?

Warmth, immediately. Stiffness, give it three to four weeks of near-daily use — the strongest trial effects show up around week four to six. That’s why you get thirty days, not seven.

Will it fit my knee?

One size, 65 cm of wrap, three straps that close anywhere — no fixed notches. If it doesn’t fit you comfortably, that’s what the thirty days are for.

Do I need eye protection?

Not for normal use — the array faces into your leg. Just don’t stare into the lit emitters.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t use it?

Don’t use it over broken skin, an active infection, or a suspicious mole. If you’re pregnant, taking photosensitising medication, being treated for cancer, or have an implanted device or metalwork in the joint, ask your doctor first. With the heat on, two more: don’t use it on skin where you can’t feel temperature properly, and don’t sleep with the heat running. It’s a wellness device, not a substitute for treatment — and if your knee is getting worse rather than stiffer, see someone about it.

Can I use it on other joints?

It’s cut for a knee. Plenty of people wrap an elbow and it works fine — we just won’t pretend it was designed for one.

Can I wear it in bed?

With the light or massage, yes — it ends the session itself, so dozing off is a non-event. Not with the heat on: run the heat while you read, let the light finish the session.

Twenty minutes. Same chair. Most evenings.

Real light, real heat, thirty days to decide — and no promises we can’t keep.
